This exhibition will give you the chance not only to hear, make and feel music, but to share the experience together. Coming to Braunschweig in 2022!
Music fascinates people worldwide and has done so since the dawn of time. At the heart of this family exhibition is the shared experience of music: from Beethoven to Beyoncé and from Europe to the ends of the earth. 30 interactive exhibits invite you to hear and make music and to feel the beat together. You don't need to play an instrument or read music – just to be curious about new sounds and experiences!
The five theme zones are bursting with ideas, sounds and amazing discoveries. Have fun finding out how music connects us to other people or can sometimes separate us from them, how music helps us to relax, express our feelings, and even change the world – or, of course, just to enjoy life!
And what would music be without movement? Some pavilions are all about dancing. How does it feel to move like today’s Whip dancers, like MC Hammer in the 90s, like performers of the Charleston, or like dancers in the Middle Ages?
Exhibits and models demonstrate the complex interaction between our ears and brain. What sounds can we hear? How do you create a pop song? And, of course, the exhibition is also about music-making and singing. What does your voice sound like in a loop or in carpool karaoke duet? And how well can you score in a drum battle?
The exhibition answers these and many more questions via 25 hands-on workstations, plus 5 interactive sound sculptures from the Mobile Music Museum and a collection of beautiful sounds from around the world.
A special pavilion is devoted to Ludwig van Beethoven in the year that marks the 250th anniversary of his birth: the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn under conductor Dirk Kaftan has made a special recording of the second movement of Beethoven's 9th Symphony exclusively for this exhibition. Using the latest 3D recording technology, it offers visitors the extraordinary acoustic experience of sitting right in the midst of the orchestra.
The Music! exhibition is an international joint project of the Braunschweigischen Landesmuseums, the LVR-LandesMuseum Bonn, the Museon Den Haag, the Limburgs Museum Venlo and Bruns B.V. Bergeijk.
